Shuffle says:  “Tennessee Plates” John Hiatt, Hiatt Comes Alive at Budokan, 1994

Welcome back, True believers.

Yes, yes. I know it’s been some time. First, I must assure you this was, for the most part an expected absence, so I apologize for not informing you fine people beforehand.

I was first at a wedding at the edge of the world, also known as Antigonish, Nova Scotia. For those of you unfamiliar with the place take a moment to look it up, it’s gorgeous. I was staying and my brand new stepfather’s house (the stepfather is new, the house is about 5 years old) the “Glass Castle”, where I wrote my last play Blackbox almost a year ago.

Following the wedding I was back in the great Republic of Texas to visit old friends, take care of old business, meet with my partner on Nowhere Road, and take a final load of (mostly) Lor’s stuff up to Chicago.

The drive up was relaxing and wonderful. It was intentionally the worst time I ever made on the Chicago-Texas run. Usually I struggle to keep my time well below the mapquest predicted time of 15.5 hours – usually clocking somewhere in the neighborhood of 12.5 hours -, but this time there was no rush at all.  I was alone, so I didn’t have to worry about anyone’s stamina. No one was waiting with baited breath for my arrival. So I took my damn time with the drive, stopping often. I took a detour to a small Amish community to eat lunch, buy goods, and carouse with the locals.  I completely indulged my obsessions with graveyards stopping at each one along my (occasionally accidental) path.  I took back roads and often found myself driving below the speed limit on major highways. The other charm of the drive was supplied by none other than Neil Gaiman and the rest of the ensemble cast of American Gods: Tenth Anniversary Edition  which I will review in the near future.

Following my return, I had my hands full with some work related projects which has kept me distracted up till now. But I have been thinking of you oh so fondly of you, dear readers and am excited to bring you more stories, reviews, games, and other mischief once more.
